Privates:-		Thirteen taylors (fluctuating with work); eighteen boatmen; three
			each as Barbers, Armourers, Masons & Carpenters; two for the
			infirmary; one each for the Barrackmaster’s office, Dpty. Paymaster’s
			office & Quartermaster’s office; one each as Hatter, Lamp lighter, &
			Office cleaner.

[A further 41 was later added to the number of Privates necessarily employed - the addition
being without explanation and perhaps made by the Commandant in Town. These may be
men for recruiting teams, cooks, messmen or officers’ servants etc which are not otherwise
mentioned. Unskilled domestic tasks and daily fatigues were no doubt assigned to recruits
or those passing through.]
